Good to know before you book

If there is anything you need during your stay, we are available 24 hours a day to help and if you have specific requirements please contact us prior to booking/arrival so we can let you know what is possible or suggest alternatives.

Check in is from 3pm on the day of arrival. Check out is up until 11am on the day of departure.

Everything in York is within about a 10 minute walk of The Parisi Hotel and there are excellent rail links from most parts of the country so there is no need to bring your car. If you are coming by car, we provide complimentary vouchers for parking off site in a nearby car park for the duration of your stay (400 metres away, max vehicle height 1.98m). We have a drop off/pick area on site, to the right of the hotel, so you can pull up to drop off bags/check in and then we will direct you to the off site car park.

We describe ourselves as a boutique hotel to indicate that we are not a typical corporate hotel with an 'off the peg' design - there are lots of pictures of the rooms and public areas on our gallery pages - please do have a browse!

Space is at a premium within York's city walls and being a historic building, the rooms come in different shapes and sizes and are all comfortable and while none are particularly huge they compare well with others in the city centre. Please do look at the pictures in the gallery and the description about the bedrooms and ask if you have any preferences or requests and our team will do their best to help.

Please be aware we do not currently have a restaurant or licence to supply alcohol, but are very near many fantastic places to eat and drink.

While we try to minimise the rules, being a small city centre hotel, we do have to have some unwaivable policies in order to try to protect the environment we have created for the pleasure of those staying with us. We want you to thoroughly enjoy your stay and so ask you to consider the things below to make sure we will be suitable for you.

- As a small hotel, we unfortunately find it difficult to resell rooms at the last minute and so have to stick firmly to our cancellation policy. For cancellation within two days of the date of stay the whole stay will be chargeable, e.g. if you are staying on a Sunday you would need to cancel before midnight on Thursday to avoid the cancellation charges. Cancellation before this is free of charge. We strongly advise you to take out insurance in case of cancellation.

- There is sometimes a 2 night minimum stay requirement, for example at weekends, Bank holidays and some school holidays. We sometimes lift these nearer the time and maintain a waiting list of people who would just like to stay for one night - just let us know.

- Free car parking for one vehicle is included in the rate. This will be off-site in public carparks that we have an arrangement with (height restriction 1.98m). There is no on-site car parking available and unfortunately we cannot provide alternatives for larger vehicles that do not fit under the height restriction barrier.

- Given the small size and physical setup of the building and in order to try to maintain the kind of service and atmosphere we aim to provide, we have made the decision not to accept any kind of group bookings of more than four people travelling together. This policy is not a judgement on you or your travelling companions, just necessary for the smooth running of the hotel. Therefore, with regret, this policy is not waivable and bookings that exceed this will be cancelled. We are happy to suggest alternative hotels that do accept parties of more than 4 people.

- The maximum occupancy of our rooms is two people with no facility for extra beds or cots.

- We are not suitable for children under 8.

- To try to minimise disturbance for the majority of guests, please note that we are not suitable for guests intending to celebrate noisily late into the night.

- While we are in a relatively quiet area, as with all the city centre hotels in York we cannot guarantee there will not be any noise. The windows are predominantly the original Victorian single glazed and we are on a through road. Nevertheless many of our guests describe the hotel as quiet and peaceful, please ask for further advice if you have doubts!

- We are not suitable for animals, apart from guide dogs.

- We do not have a lift/elevator and all bedrooms apart from 'the Grand' are on the first floor. We are very happy to help with bags.

- We do not have air conditioning but every room is equipped with a fan and a range of bedding options can be provided.

- We do not take any payment until arrival or departure, whichever you prefer, but do take credit or debit card details to guarantee bookings and in case of cancellation.

- We do not have a restaurant or bar but are very close to a number of lovely places to eat and drink.
